The recent episode of “WWE NXT” wrapped up not with a match, but with a face-to-face confrontation between Giulia and Roxanne Perez, setting the stage for their upcoming title clash. Despite the introduction of incoming recruit Stephanie Vaquer into the storyline, the segment fell flat for some viewers. WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray shared his thoughts on Busted Open Radio, expressing his disappointment with the show’s conclusion.
“That segment was flat — completely flat,” Bully stated. “The crowd was silent and fidgety. At one point, I found myself looking past the women into the audience and noticing people squirming in their seats. I don’t think that segment resonated with anyone in the arena, and it certainly didn’t resonate with me at home.”
Typically, promo segments are designed to advance storylines leading up to matches, but Bully felt this segment failed to achieve that objective. While he acknowledged that Giulia started strong, he noted that she struggled to maintain a connection with the live audience through her tone and delivery.
Bully also took issue with specific lines exchanged between the wrestlers, particularly Giulia’s comment about Perez needing to “pass the torch.” He expressed a desire for a more intense interaction between the two competitors, believing the audience shared his sentiment.
Next week, after months of anticipation, Giulia will finally make her WWE ring debut as “WWE NXT” airs on The CW. Perez will defend her WWE NXT Women’s Championship, while former CMLL star Vaquer eagerly awaits to see who will emerge with the title.
