NXT’s Kelani Jordan Discusses Her Journey with ‘Big Sis’ Dana Brooke

WWE Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan has had an exhilarating career in “WWE NXT,” highlighted by her victory as the inaugural champion and her collaboration with former WWE star Dana Brooke, now known as Ash by Elegance in TNA Wrestling. Brooke served as a mentor to Jordan during her early days in WWE’s developmental brand. In a recent conversation with WINC ahead of “NXT’s” debut on The CW, Jordan opened up about the challenges she faced when the woman she affectionately refers to as “her sister” was released from the company.

After Brooke’s departure, Jordan spoke with her mentor, who remained in “high spirits” and was incredibly supportive, expressing pride in Jordan’s achievements as she prepared for “NXT’s” Breakout Tournament.

“It’s hard from the human perspective, but at the end of the day, she was okay and she encouraged me, so everything was good,” Jordan reflected. “She’s thriving at TNA as Ash by Elegance. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and she’s absolutely crushing it. Now that we’re crossing over, who knows? I might get to meet her again.”

Jordan also mentioned the collaboration between “NXT” and TNA, which has featured talents like Joe Hendry competing for the NXT Championship and Jordynne Grace defending her Knockouts Championship. Brooke last appeared on “NXT” at Battleground in July, where she captured the Knockouts Championship from Tatum Paxley, who had tried to escape with the belt during Grace’s title defense against Roxanne Perez. Jordan hopes her last encounter with her mentor at the premium live event won’t be their final meeting.
