Glenn Jacobs, WWE’s Kane, Organizing Canned Food Drive for Hurricane Helene Relief

Hurricane Helene has caused severe damage in parts of the southeastern United States, leaving areas in Florida, the Carolinas, and Appalachia underwater. The destruction of infrastructure has left many victims in desperate need of assistance from surrounding communities until formal relief efforts can be established.

WWE Hall of Famer and Knox County, TN Mayor Glenn Jacobs is stepping up to help by organizing a canned food and bottled water drive for those affected by the hurricane in East Tennessee. The drive, in collaboration with Mission of Hope and Knoxville Wholesale Furniture, is set to take place on October 5.

“Anything you give will help and will be greatly appreciated,” Jacobs stated in a video message accompanying the announcement. Jacobs was first elected as mayor of Knox County in 2018 and was re-elected in 2022.

The storm has impacted areas that typically don’t experience hurricanes. AEW star Cash Wheeler’s hometown of Asheville, NC, has also suffered significant damage. While the former AEW World Tag Team Champion is safe, he has been unable to fulfill bookings due to the disaster and has launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for relief efforts in Asheville.

Additionally, the hurricane forced the cancellation of TNA’s scheduled TV tapings in Spartanburg, SC. It’s currently unclear what TNA will air in place of the episodes that were supposed to be taped over the weekend, as the initial rescheduling announcement has since been removed. The promotion is gearing up for its annual Bound For Glory event on October 26.
