The Wyatt Six has quickly become one of WWE’s most talked-about factions, especially since the mysterious QR codes teasing their debut started showing up earlier this year in April. However, the group’s original lineup could have looked quite different, according to former WWE and TNA star Eric Young.
In a candid conversation on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, Young revealed that he was initially supposed to be part of the Wyatt Six alongside Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas.
“Yeah, I think the original idea was me, Bray [Wyatt], and Bo [Dallas] as a trio,” Young shared. “That’s what was told to me from Hunter [Triple H], basically, and so, obviously, I’m going to jump at that. You know, I’m friends with both of those guys.”
Young was excited about the potential of joining the stable, especially after witnessing the fan reaction to Bray Wyatt’s highly anticipated return at the Extreme Rules Premium Live Event in October 2022. However, everything changed in early 2023 when Vince McMahon was reinstated to WWE’s Board of Directors, a move that prompted Young to ask for his release.
“It’s not lost on me that I was able to walk away from money like that, you know, stability like that because of what I believe. The kind of human being that I am. That’s not like ten years ago. I don’t know if I would’ve been able to make that choice financially or personally or certainly not professionally and I’m in a position where I’ll be fine,” Young explained.
Despite the exciting opportunity, Young decided to prioritize his personal values over the financial and professional security WWE offered. Following his release, he made a surprise return to TNA Wrestling at the Slammiversary pay-per-view, marking his official comeback to the promotion.
