Following AEW WrestleDream, Bryan Danielson’s career as a full-time wrestler officially came to an emotional close. In the event’s main event, Jon Moxley choked out Danielson to become the new AEW World Champion. However, a third key figure in the match was referee Bryce Remsburg, who has known Danielson for years. As Remsburg counted the final pin, his expression reflected sadness, marking the end of an era.
In the aftermath, Remsburg took to Facebook to share a heartfelt tribute to “The American Dragon”, expressing the personal impact Danielson has had on him throughout his own career.
Remsburg recalled attending Ring of Honor’s inaugural event in 2002, where Danielson’s performance inspired him to train as a referee at the CHIKARA Wrestle Factory. Since then, he has officiated and provided commentary for many of Danielson’s matches across the globe. Yet, being part of Danielson’s final match at WrestleDream was a defining moment for him.
“Pro wrestling is full of hyperbole, with few definitive, forever statements,” Remsburg wrote. “But I can confidently say there will never be another Bryan Danielson. And frankly, we wouldn’t deserve one anyway. #ThankYouBryan.”
Danielson’s Future in Wrestling
Danielson has been candid about his need for neck surgery later this year, having pushed through several injuries over recent months. His health issues were so severe that he was nearly pulled from competing in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament this summer.
While a WWE return is unlikely, AEW insiders expect Danielson to make occasional appearances once he recovers. For now, though, it seems wrestling fans will have to get used to life without one of the sport’s most beloved figures.
