Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s annual review of “WWE NXT” Halloween Havoc 2024, which was a Premium Live Event (PLE) this year—unlike last year’s edition for various reasons. This year’s show felt a bit uneven, and while we wish we could celebrate more standout moments, our list of highlights is notably smaller than usual. Conversely, our critiques are plentiful.
We’ll touch on the five-match card, which included Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer’s tag team victory, the Ambulance Match, the Gauntlet Match, and the main event. However, we won’t delve deeply into Tony D’Angelo’s second victory over Oba Femi, which we thought was solid but not groundbreaking. Instead, here are three things we loved and three things we hated (or, if you prefer, three tricks and three treats) about “WWE NXT” Halloween Havoc 2024.
Loved: Regal’s Return with King and Dempsey
In an exciting backstage segment at Halloween Havoc, William Regal made a surprising return to offer his support to Lexis King, who was searching for a cornerman ahead of an upcoming Heritage Cup Match. Regal’s involvement becomes even more intriguing as he faces off against his own son, Charlie Dempsey. This connection may push King closer to embracing his heritage as Brian Pillman Jr., especially as he has recently referenced his late father more openly.
Since Regal’s return to WWE earlier this year, his appearances have been sparse and mostly cameo-based, including his announcements regarding Dempsey’s All Japan Pro Wrestling events and his support for Ava as “NXT” General Manager. Regal’s involvement in this storyline represents a fresh opportunity to inject some much-needed energy into the Heritage Cup, which has felt somewhat stagnant.
This development is particularly promising because it intertwines Regal’s history with both Dempsey and the Pillman legacy. The potential for character shifts, heel turns, and unexpected alliances creates a tantalizing prospect for the future of both King and Dempsey. With Regal at the helm, we may be on the brink of some thrilling storytelling in NXT.
