Sheamus Shows Off Battle Wounds Following Intense WWE Survivor Series Match

Triple Threat Matches are notoriously dangerous, not just because of the third competitor causing chaos and breaking up pinfalls, but also due to the lack of disqualifications and countouts, leading to anarchic mayhem. This was evident on Saturday, as former WWE Champion Sheamus displayed the wounds he sustained from Bron Breakker and Ludwig Kaiser during their match for Breakker’s Intercontinental Championship.

“Survivor,” Sheamus captioned a montage of photos showing “The Celtic Warrior” with red marks covering his back and arms from the brutal contest. During the match, Sheamus was put through an announce table, speared through a steel chair by Breakker, and repeatedly beaten with his own Shillelagh by Kaiser. Ultimately, it was a final spear from Breakker that brought Sheamus down, allowing Breakker to retain the title.

The Intercontinental title remains the only main roster singles title that Sheamus has yet to win in his 15-year WWE career, making it the final achievement he needs to become a WWE Grand Slam Champion, joining the ranks of Randy Orton and others. This fact has fueled the feud, placing Sheamus in the midst of the increasingly violent rivalry between Breakker and Kaiser. Breakker has been in his second reign as Intercontinental Champion since October 21, when he regained the title on “WWE Raw” from Jey Uso.
