The New Day’s tenth anniversary celebration marked the return of Big E, but things took an unexpected turn for the iconic trio on “WWE Raw.” Tensions had been simmering between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston for weeks, with the duo unable to see eye to eye, culminating in a heated argument last week. The segment began with General Manager Adam Pearce introducing Woods and Kingston. Both expressed their gratitude to the fans and acknowledged the incredible journey they had been on, but hinted that they had something important to share, assuring the fans that it wasn’t their fault.
Before Kingston could continue, Big E’s music hit. He expressed his regret for the circumstances but shared how painful it was to see Woods and Kingston bickering. He spoke about his personal struggles with his broken neck and how Woods and Kingston had supported him. Big E announced that until he was medically cleared to wrestle, he would be on “Raw” every week to serve as Woods and Kingston’s manager.
Surprisingly, Woods and Kingston didn’t react positively to Big E’s offer. Woods was frustrated that his former friend wanted to return after watching their conflict for weeks. Kingston chimed in, accusing Big E of abandoning them and dismissing his neck injury. The pair cited examples of other wrestlers, like Kurt Angle, who had returned after similar injuries. Woods and Kingston continued to berate Big E, claiming that if he truly cared, he would have returned much sooner.
Woods bluntly told Big E that he would never be medically cleared and should leave the ring. Big E extended a hug one last time but was rejected. Woods and Kingston declared that it was just the two of them now, grasping hands in the ring as Big E looked on.
