First Singles Title Defense Added To AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam At Arthur Ash

First Singles Title Defense Set for AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe

Three weeks ago, HOOK defeated longtime rival Chris Jericho to become a record-setting three-time FTW Champion. Now, with that victory in the past, HOOK is turning his attention to “AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam,” where he will defend his title against Roderick Strong.

The announcement of HOOK’s title defense against Strong was made during the opening match of Saturday’s “Collision,” revealed through a graphic. This follows a video package aired on the September 11 episode of “AEW Dynamite,” where HOOK officially challenged Strong to a title match. As the match will be for the FTW Championship, fans should anticipate an FTW Rules match at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 25. Further details about the match have yet to be announced.

“Grand Slam” will take place in New York in two weeks and will feature both a live broadcast of “AEW Dynamite” and a taping of that week’s “Collision” episode. Currently, HOOK vs. Strong is the only singles championship match scheduled for the event. Bryan Danielson was initially set to defend the AEW World Championship against Darby Allin, but recent events on “Dynamite” have led to Allin putting his title shot on the line against Jon Moxley. Meanwhile, Danielson’s participation is uncertain, and he may face old rival Nigel McGuinness. Additionally, the Young Bucks are slated to defend their AEW World Tag Team Championship against Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher.
