Jimmy Jacobs’ recent exit from AEW has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with much attention focused on decisions he made during his tenure. Among the circulating reports was one suggesting Jacobs didn’t support a push for Daniel Garcia. However, this narrative was later clarified to avoid misconceptions.
Ibou from WrestlePurists addressed the situation in a recent X (formerly Twitter) space, shedding light on the issue.
“He doesn’t dislike Daniel; he just didn’t view him at that level,” Ibou explained. “Jacobs didn’t see him as a top guy, so when suggestions like, ‘Let’s give this to Daniel Garcia,’ came up, Jacobs wasn’t the one eagerly saying, ‘Yes, let’s do it.’”
Ibou further explained the inconsistency in Garcia’s booking, revealing it wasn’t directly tied to Jacobs’ creative decisions. “The reason Garcia’s storylines felt disjointed was that many of his major moments weren’t planned by creative. They usually came from top talents wanting to work with him—whether it was Will Ospreay or MJF, these stars asked to face Garcia, and AEW made it happen.”
Despite the ups and downs, Garcia remains a prominent figure in AEW. Since re-signing with the promotion, he’s wasted no time making an impact—most recently confronting Jack Perry at WrestleDream to announce his intentions to challenge for the AEW TNT Championship.
