Former WWE Star Matt Cardona Shocked He Hasn’t Received an Offer From Any Company

Over the past four years, Matt Cardona has carved out a significant niche for himself on the indie wrestling scene, achieving success in promotions like GCW, TNA, and MLW after his release from WWE. He has also made notable appearances in AEW, where he teamed up with Cody Rhodes in 2020 and most recently faced Adam Copeland in a TNT title open challenge last March. Despite consistently impressing in various roles, Cardona has yet to receive a full-time offer from AEW or a chance to return to WWE. In a recent interview with “Walkway To Fight Club,” the former GCW World Champion expressed his disappointment about this situation.

“Listen, I’ll be completely honest. I don’t know what the f*** is going on. I’m genuinely shocked that I haven’t received an offer from any company, and that’s not me being egotistical; that’s me being realistic. I’ve done everything there is to do. What else can I possibly accomplish? However, I can’t let this period be driven by bitterness or negativity. It was never about ‘proving people wrong’; it was about ‘proving my fans right,’ and I feel like I’ve done that. The moment you allow bitterness or anger to creep in is when you lose yourself, and I’m not going to let this journey be overshadowed by negativity.”

Cardona also noted that AEW’s decision not to offer him a contract after his initial stint with the company in 2020 turned out to be a “blessing in disguise.” However, he expressed surprise that Tony Khan did not extend an offer following his TNT title match against Copeland.
