New GCW Champion Crowned – Fans Pelt Matt Cardona With Trash & Bottles (Must-See Videos)

We have a new GCW (Game Changer Wrestling) Champion, as Matt Cardona defeated Nick Gage during the main event of GCW Homecoming (Night One) on Saturday night.

For those unaware, Cardona attacked Gage at GCW’s Zombie Walk event last month. During that show, Cardona came out in a hood, tricking the audience into thinking it was Jon Moxley. Following the segment, Cardona and Gage got into an all out “war of words” on social media.

At one point during their feud, Gage tried to attack Cardona during a live podcast event he was hosting. That set up the GCW World Title match that took place last night.

At GCW Homecoming (Night One), the two faced off in a brutal match that saw lots of real glass, light tubes, pizza cutters, and much more. At one point during the match, Chris Jericho’s “Judas” theme music played but he never came out and it turned out to be some nobody. As many of you know, Gage vs. Jericho will be taking place on next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

The end of the match came when 44.OH! came out, but Gage was able to fight them off. Rickey Shane Page then came out and acted like he was coming to the defense of Gage, but he quickly turned on him, which allowed Cardona to pick up the pinfall victory.

Following the match, Cardona was hit by trash, beer/water bottles, etc. as he tried to pose with the belt. It should be noted that most GCW events have an old-school ECW feel to them and the company continues to gain popularity with each pay-per-view event they run.
