There had been rumors last Saturday that Jim Ross would be transitioning from the full-time lead announcer for AEW in favor of doing more behind-the-scenes work and sit-down interviews.
Ross responded to the rumors by writing the following on Twitter: “It’s news to me…”
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that a related rumor suggested that Ross would be leaving the company at the end of the year, and there had been talks of Taz replacing him. However, that is false.
Ross signed a three-year deal in early 2019 and aot of the original deals were also for three years and will be coming up next year.
It was also noted the rumor has been around for a while in AEW so there are some who believe it.
