NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship’s Set to Return

On an Instagram live today, Mickie James announced that the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championships will be returning. James revealed that after a discussion with NWA president Billy Corgan, the titles will be returning at NWA Empowerrr. This will be the first time the titles have been seen since they were declared null and void after the belts were sold to the WWE in 1984.

When commenting on the return of the titles, James had this to say:

“HUGE decision and announcement from Billy and myself. We are bringing back the NWA Women’s Tag Team Championships. The winner will be crowned at Empowerrr. I’m scouring for the top teams and I know we ALL can’t wait to see the championships brought back to their former glory.”

NWA Empowerrr will kick off a four day stretch of events for the company. It will see Empowerrr on Saturday, August 28th, followed by NWA 73rd Anniversary show the next day. Monday and Tuesday will then be television tapings for the company,.

Tickets for the show went on sale today (July 16th).
