Ricochet to Partner with Former AEW Star for Return to Japan
AEW star Ricochet is making waves in his new environment and has set his sights on AEW International Champion Will Ospreay. Additionally, he is making a comeback to the international wrestling scene with a return to Japan for the first time since participating in WWE live events in 2019. It has been confirmed that Ricochet will debut with the GLEAT promotion on October 6 in Osaka, where he will team up with Japanese legend and former AEW star CIMA.
“Ladies and gentlemen, you know who it is,” Ricochet announced in a video promoting his appearance. “I really don’t need an introduction, but since we’re here, it’s your boy, Ricochet. I’m excited to let you know that I’ll be returning to Japan on October 6 in Osaka for GLEAT. And not only will I be returning, but I’ll also be teaming with my former sensei, my former partner—we were tag team champions all around the world, yes, me and CIMA. Let’s go!”
CIMA significantly influenced Ricochet’s early career in Japan, with the two winning titles in both Dragon Gate and Dragon Gate USA. They captured the Open The Triangle Gate Championships alongside Dragon Kid in 2010 as part of the WARRIORS stable, and the Open The Twin Gate Championships in 2011 as the Spiked Mohicans. They also won the Open The United Gate Championships in Dragon Gate USA in 2012 with the Blood WARRIORS stable, and later reunited in Japan in 2017 before Ricochet joined WWE the following year.
