Throughout his legendary career, The Undertaker has been part of some of the most grueling matches in WWE history. From being buried alive to falling off ladders, and with more Hell in a Cell appearances than any other wrestler, he has seen it all. However, there’s one moment that stands out in his memory—a particularly brutal bump he delivered to former WWE star Spike Dudley, which he believes ranks among the scariest he’s witnessed.
During a recent episode of the Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker recalled a match on WWE Raw where he chokeslammed Spike Dudley from inside the ring, sending Dudley crashing to the floor with no protection.
“He took absolutely one of the nastiest bumps I’ve ever given anybody,” The Undertaker revealed. “I don’t want to do that. I understand why, like, I mean, that’s some people’s niche, that’s what they do, but it’s just not. I don’t want to hurt you. I don’t want to hurt you. I could press slam you and make you land on your feet and it still [hurt], but that was nasty.”
According to The Undertaker, Dudley had to be convinced to take the spot as he initially felt it was too dangerous. Known for taking extreme bumps that few others would attempt, Dudley made a name for himself, especially during his time in ECW, where he became famous for going through flaming tables and jumping off balconies.
The Undertaker explained that while he understood why someone like Dudley might take those kinds of risks for exposure, he never considered doing such dangerous moves himself. “It may have looked spectacular, but I didn’t think it was smart,” he added, reiterating his preference for ensuring his opponents’ safety, even when performing painful moves.
