All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is gearing up to launch its streaming service on Max in 2025, which will include the company’s pay-per-view (PPV) events at a discounted rate compared to traditional PPV. However, there is a catch: Max currently lacks the necessary capabilities for this feature.
AEW’s Streaming Future
During the pre-WrestleDream media call, AEW President Tony Khan shared insights about the upcoming partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and the potential for AEW content on Max. He emphasized the importance of aligning closely with the streaming service to ensure a smooth rollout of features as they become available.
- Khan’s Statement: “Some of these aspects are yet to be rolled out, and I would like to stay in lock-step in partnership with Warner Brothers Discovery about rolling out the information. But it is exciting that when Max gets the PPV capabilities, we’ll be a big part of the PPV service.”
Live Programming and Streaming Library
Starting in early 2025, Max will simulcast AEW’s flagship shows, Dynamite and Collision. Khan believes this presents a significant opportunity for wrestling fans to engage with AEW content on a major platform.
- Khan on Live Viewership: “Having live viewers on Max for wrestling is a huge, huge opportunity. We’ve built a library of shows with over 260 episodes of Dynamite and a great year-plus of Collision. It’s a really, really exciting proposition to have the streaming library on such a great service as Max.”
Excitement for Future Collaborations
Khan expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of AEW’s library being available alongside what he regards as some of “the best shows in television history” on Max, though he chose not to specify which shows he was referring to.
The Changing Landscape of Wrestling Streaming
2025 promises to be a transformative year for wrestling streaming, as WWE’s flagship program, Raw, is set to move to Netflix on January 6, concluding its 30-year tenure on cable television. Meanwhile, AEW is in negotiations regarding the future of its Friday night programming, with rumors suggesting that AEW Rampage or a similar show may find a new home at Fox.
With these developments, the landscape of professional wrestling streaming is poised for significant changes in the coming years, making it an exciting time for fans and organizations alike.
