The rivalry between Pete Dunne and Trick Williams reached its climax in a Last Man Standing match on “WWE NXT.”
Following their double countout from the previous week, “WWE NXT” General Manager Ava decreed that the two would settle their differences in a Last Man Standing match. The added stipulation was that the winner would earn a title shot against Ethan Page for the NXT Championship on the October 1 episode of “WWE NXT” in Chicago, Illinois. Trick Williams emerged victorious, with Dunne failing to answer the referee’s ten count on tonight’s edition of “WWE NXT.”
As the match neared its end, Dunne attempted to throw Williams through a table from an elevated platform, but both men ended up crashing through it. When they began to recover, Page appeared to support Dunne. However, Page’s interference led to him crashing through the commentary table. With Dunne unable to get up, Williams was declared the winner and the last man standing.
Williams will now aim to regain the NXT Championship he previously lost to Page at “WWE NXT” Heatwave. During his reign, Page has defended the title successfully against Dante Chen, Oro Mensah, and TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry.
