Veteran WWE commentator Michael Cole recently discussed the positive impact that Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s leadership has had on the company during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. Cole shared his perspective on the noticeable differences between Triple H’s era and that of Vince McMahon, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
Cole noted that the atmosphere has changed for the better, citing how the lighter schedule and fewer live events have reinvigorated everyone involved in WWE, from the superstars in the ring to the production crew. He praised Levesque for taking a step back and allowing the talent to take the lead, which has given performers more freedom to fully embrace their characters.
“I think that freedom has really allowed the superstars, and I know for me and I know for Pat as well, has allowed us to be more entertaining, to be more relaxed, to be able to sit back and enjoy this product as a fan,” Cole explained. He also highlighted that the performers themselves, like Seth Rollins, know their characters best, and allowing them to showcase that authenticity only enhances the product.
Cole further praised Levesque for empowering everyone involved in WWE’s production, from the talent to the announcers, camera operators, and even those who handle props. He emphasized that Triple H sees his company as an “all-star team” and encourages everyone to bring their best to the table.
Having been in the business for nearly 30 years, Cole admitted that the last couple of years working with Levesque and Pat McAfee have been the most enjoyable of his career. “I have never had as much fun as I’ve had the last couple of years,” he shared.
