WWE delivered some disappointing news regarding former NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov during Monday’s episode of “WWE Raw.” Before a promo segment featuring World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, commentary revealed that Dragunov has suffered a suspected torn ACL and will be sidelined for approximately six to nine months. The injury occurred while Dragunov was competing against GUNTHER for a title shot during a live event in Columbus, Georgia, over the weekend.
In a video shared by WWE on social media and aired during the broadcast, Dragunov was seen leaving the ring under his own power, although he was visibly hobbling and unable to put weight on his right leg as he made his way up the ramp.
Dragunov’s most recent match on television was a loss to Jey Uso in a fatal four-way bout that also included Braun Strowman and Pete Dunne, which took place on the September 9 episode of “Raw.” Prior to the Intercontinental Championship tournament, Dragunov had been facing off against GUNTHER in house shows in Germany, leading up to the Bash in Berlin event.
Dragunov was called up to the main roster’s red brand at the end of April during the fourth round of the 2024 WWE Draft, following his loss of the NXT Championship to Trick Williams at “NXT” Spring Breakin’.
