WWE Hall of Famer Booker T Evaluates Impact of NXT Transition to the CW
With the October 1 debut of “WWE NXT” on the CW network approaching, unexpected appearances are increasing, including The Bloodline from “SmackDown” and TNA’s Jordynne Grace, Hammerstone, and Rosemary. A highly anticipated lineup for the debut show has also started to take shape, featuring CM Punk in his hometown of Chicago and next week’s episode kicking off the excitement. Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, currently a color commentator for “NXT,” discussed on his “Hall of Fame” podcast the heightened expectations and increased scrutiny that come with the move.
Booker T emphasized the significance of elevated performances as the show’s visibility grows. “There’s going to be a lot more scrutiny if you’re not performing at a high level, especially with platforms like Twitter amplifying everything,” he said. “The increased exposure means it’s a sink or swim situation.” Reflecting on this, Booker noted, “As they say, cream rises to the top.”
Though largely retired from in-ring competition, Booker expressed both excitement and envy about the opportunities available in WWE’s current developmental system. “This is huge,” Booker said. “I’m jealous in many ways. I can imagine how beneficial it would have been to have had such a springboard into the next level when I first started. It would have been fantastic.”
