The following is from our play-by-play coverage of the WWE Money in the Bank PPV event:
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Edge
They had a slow build with some mind games and a big shoulder tackle by Reigns. Reigns beat him down then tossed him to the floor. Reigns mounted him and rained down strikes. Reigns tossed him into the ring post. There was a long headlock spot. Edge tried to fight back, but got cut down. Reigns hit the dive bye. Reigns went for a superman punch, but Edge reversed it. They traded punches. Edge mounted a comeback with a clothesline then a DDT for 2. Edge bounced Reigns’ face off the ring post then locked in the STF. Reigns got to the ropes.
Edge went for a spear, but Reigns countered it and locked in a guillotine choke. They spilled out to the floor. Reigns went for a pear, but Edge moved, and Reigns crashed through the barricade. Reigns with the superman punch to Edge and he knocked into the referee. Reigns broke off a piece of a steel chair so he could use it as part of a submission hold, but Edge fought out. Edge locked in the crossface. The Usos came out, but The Mysterio’s made the save. Seth Rolins came out to superkick Edge in the back of the head then left. Reigns went for a spear, but Edge hit one of his own and got a two count with a new referee. Rollins came out again and this distraction allowed Reigns finish Edge to win the match.
Winner: WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns
Post-match, John Cena came out and had a staredown with Reigns to close the show.
