WWE Star Kelani Jordan Recalls Emotional Win To Capture NXT NA Championship

At WWE NXT Battleground, Kelani Jordan made history by becoming the first-ever NXT Women’s North American Champion. The moment was filled with emotions, not just for Jordan but for her family as well.

“It felt amazing [to win the NXT Women’s North American Championship],” Jordan shared during an interview on Muscle Memory. “I remember sitting on top of the ladder, and I was literally shaking. My hands were trembling, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh.’ It felt surreal, almost like an out-of-body experience. I looked around at the fans and realized, ‘I just made history.’ It’s hard to put into words because it felt like a fever dream. I couldn’t fully process what was happening because I was in shock.”

Jordan’s disbelief quickly turned into deep emotion, especially when she saw her parents’ reaction. Her mother was in tears, as expected, but it was her father’s rare display of emotion that really struck her. “My mom cries all the time, but my dad never cries,” Jordan explained. “When I saw him crying, it really hit me. It made me tear up even more because it showed just how proud he was. It was surreal knowing we used to watch wrestling together, and now I was making history.”

Jordan’s victory at NXT Battleground wasn’t an easy one. She faced fierce competition from four other NXT stars, including a main roster veteran, Michin. The final moments of the ladder match saw Michin take out Sol Ruca with a clothesline, before turning her attention to Jordan. In the ensuing brawl, Jordan managed to come out on top, which allowed her to ascend the ladder and secure her place in WWE history as the first NXT Women’s North American Champion.
