On “WWE Raw,” R-Truth made a surprising return to Monday nights, setting the stage for an exciting tag team match alongside his partner, The Miz. What began as a reunion of Awesome Truth quickly turned into a betrayal, as Miz turned against Truth and abandoned him during a match against The Authors of Pain.
Truth made his entrance first during a backstage segment, much to The Miz’s shock. R-Truth had been sidelined since August after taking multiple Tsunamis from Bronson Reed in Miz’s place. In an attempt to avenge his partner, Miz also fell victim to Reed and subsequently engaged in several backstage encounters with Karrion Kross, who seemed to be appealing to Miz’s darker side, just as he had with Xavier Woods.
Upon his arrival, Truth informed Miz that he had secured a tag match against AOP, who are part of Kross’s stable, The Final Testament. During the match, Miz made a hot tag and appeared poised to attack their opponents. Instead, he delivered a big boot to his own partner, leaving R-Truth stunned. As Kross laughed from ringside, Miz walked away, leaving Truth to face a brutal assault from AOP. He even ripped off his Awesome Truth shirt and tossed it at the camera as he made his exit up the ramp.
The Miz had been portraying a babyface for nearly a year, having joined the good side during an October 2023 feud with GUNTHER over the Intercontinental Championship. In 2024, he and Truth reformed their tag team, winning what are now known as the World Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 40. They held the titles for 79 days before losing them to the current champions, JD McDonagh and Finn Balor of The Judgment Day.
