Charlie Dempsey retained the NXT Heritage Cup after a returning Tavion Heights interfered in his match against Je’Von Evans on “WWE NXT.” With the help of his fellow No Quarter Catch Crew member, Dempsey secured his title in the fifth round of the contest. Heights made his return to the brand and his faction following his participation in the NOAH N-1 Tournament in Japan.
During the match, Dempsey attempted to pin Evans in the first round, but the fall was not secured before the round ended. Dempsey succeeded in pinning Evans in the second round, but Evans managed to win the third round. In round four, Evans kicked Dempsey out of the ring and went for a dive, only to be met with a forearm from Dempsey, who regained control. Dempsey tried to apply a body scissors submission, but the round ended with Cedric Alexander intervening to break up the hold, nearly inciting a brawl.
In the fifth round, Evans initially went for a pin, but Dempsey kicked out and responded with a hard strike. Evans countered a Dragon Suplex attempt and hit a forearm, but Dempsey rolled away. Myles Borne then placed Dempsey’s foot on the ropes to prevent a pinfall. Alexander re-entered the ring to fend off the NQCC. With Dempsey outside the ring, Evans attempted a top-rope move, but Heights interfered, taking down Evans. Dempsey then pinned Evans back in the ring to retain the Heritage Cup.
